First Outing at Bedford SEN including On-Board Video
Just over 2 weeks ago, we took the R53 Track Project out for its first run on track. The location was The Bedford Autodrome, on the SEN circuit. As you can imagine we were nowhere near the fastest car on circuit…. that would have gone to the McLaren 675LT that was there. But we had some fun with the “slower” cars on the day, mainly a shed load of Renault Clio’s.
We had a group of about 6 of us, out there for the day, although not all of us where driving. The Mini was driven by me and one Olly Button, while James Colver had his first on track experience in his Ford Focus RS, and during the morning Jack Rose has his Evo 6 out to play.
Unfortunately the Mini did not have the new big brake kit it was suppose to have… Will explain that one in a Project update soon, so we where running the notorious standard brakes which as expected over heated within just a few laps! So apart from the braking issue that we had to drive around, the R53 stood up well to its first time on track, and we even got to dial in the new Suspension set up a little bit… Once again will go into more detail about the Coilovers in the next Project update.
For now its back to doing more upgrades and modifications to the R53, but it does seem we will be back on track some time in November once again with MSV at Bedford Autodrome.
