Today the British sports car, GT and prototype manufacturer Ginetta has announced it will be stepping up to be a LMP1-L constructor in the FIA WEC for 2018. They have said that there aim is to be a constructor with hopefully 3 privateer teams running the cars, instead of them running the cars them self’s. After the disappointment of Ginetta not getting awarded one of the 4 constructor positions for LMP2, its good to see they are not letting that keep them down.
It was no secret that eventually Ginetta wanted to build a LMP1, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with, especially with there new design recruits that have been involved in high profile manufacturer LMP1 programs previously. They will also complete there aim of being the only constructor that can bring you in as a rookie with the G40 and help you progress up to LMP1 with one brand. I for one will be looking forward to see what they come up with, and will be supporting them on the track. It will be interesting to see what engine they also opt for as, but I do hope for a V6 Turbo, as they sound mental on track. We will post more news when it comes available.
